Curriculum Design & AI Literacy Pedagogy
I’m a computer science educator and curriculum designer focused on AI literacy integration and academic integrity in secondary CS education.
Current Work
I teach Advanced CS I, AP Computer Science Principles, Web Development & Design, Digital Game Design, and Computer Education Technology at Lyon County School District in Nevada. All five course builds are my own, written from the standards up, and I rebuilt them to address the challenges and opportunities of AI in CS education.
My work focuses on:
- Standards alignment - Crosswalking frameworks (CSTA, ISTE, state standards) for curriculum coherence
- Assessment design - Building authentic assessments in an AI-augmented learning environment
- AI literacy pedagogy - Integrating AI literacy into existing CS courses without sacrificing foundational skills
Research
I’m a doctoral candidate at National University. My dissertation is heading toward a design-based research study of AI literacy pedagogy in secondary computer science: build and iterate a unit inside a running high school CS course, then consolidate what the cycles teach into design principles a rural single-teacher program can actually use. The methodology is not settled until my committee meets in 2027, so read that as the direction rather than a finished claim. More on the research.
What I’m Building
Two things worth looking at rather than reading about:
- Standards crosswalk auditor — a live audit of five CS courses against the standards each is required to teach, traced to the specific lesson that teaches each one. The gaps are shown on purpose.
- NASEM foundational competencies coverage — four courses scored against the seven competencies named in the 2026 National Academies consensus study, with the method and its limits stated.
I’m exploring transitions from classroom teaching to curriculum leadership and professional learning roles in CS/AI education.
